TOM FORD Officially leaves his namesake label – The TOM FORD ARCHIVE looks back at 13 years of classic works

TOM FORD, 62, unveiled his final ready-to-wear collection for his eponymous label, which covers a number of looks he has designed over the years and reflects on the classic style and aesthetic he has created over the past 13 years. TOM FORD also announced his departure from his eponymous label. TOM FORD sold the brand to the Estee Lauder Group in November for $2.8 billion.

TOM FORD’s design works are undoubtedly classic and influential — whether in the period of Gucci and Saint Laurent, or later the works of his eponymous brand, have been deeply rooted in the soil of pop culture history, becoming an immortal legacy of the contemporary fashion industry.

TOM FORD recently released his final collection for his eponymous brand, Autumn/Winter 2023, after selling it to the Estee Lauder Group last year. This marks the end of his career with the brand. In this collection, he looks back at his past designs and reissues his favorites in limited format, including some of the brand’s most recognizable designs from the past 13 years.

Back in 2010, TOM FORD launched his first women’s collection. Now, 13 years later, he looks back at the brand’s most iconic fashion moments, reissuing the brand’s most famous styles in limited format. These include a broken mirror sheath from spring 2014, presented by Karlie Kloss, and a metallic colour-matching sheath dress from spring 2016, performed by Amber Valletta. In addition, he recreated the white cape gown he created for Gwyneth Paltrow at the 2012 Academy Awards and the Burgundy breastplate and gown look Zendaya wore in her Spring/Summer 2020 collection, one of her most famous appearances. There’s even a reworked version of his signature Gucci-era velvet suit with a matching silk button-down shirt, similar to the Gucci version Madonna wore at the Vmas. The replicas are re-presented in limited quantities, allowing people to recapture the glamour of these iconic moments.

Many were disappointed to learn that the designer was leaving the eponymous brand. While the brand has yet to announce any new designers, and TOM FORD himself has not said anything about his future plans, it is expected that the brand will continue to maintain its high standards and impressive design. At the same time, there are those who see this as a new beginning, a new opportunity, an opportunity to inject new blood and energy into the brand to create more exciting design work. In any case, the departure of the designer from the eponymous brand is always a sigh, but we can expect changes and surprises in the future.
